Twenty years from now, when my daughter asks me why technology is policed so rigorously, I'll share quaint anecdotes of what life was like in the old days.
"You see sweetie, way back at the turn of the millennium, people could use the Internet whenever and however they wanted. No fingerprint authentication, no voice recognition, no identity scan required before logging on. Imagine that!"
"Why mother," she'll say, "whatever happened to cause all this security?"
"Well once upon a time, there was a site called MySpace…"
