Geek update: Defeat technology. Then warmly receive it.

Stepwinder beat me to telling you about the new Google Street View, which I suppose I deserve after wasting my time on Lumosity instead of blogging this weekend. Once you’ve pondered the Big Brother-ish implications of Google’s new technology – and then brushed them off as paranoid delusions – check out Mashable’s list of the top 15 sightings on Street View. A quick gander at people breaking into buildings and leaving strip clubs should vault you back to our brave new world posthaste.

Speaking of beating the system, check out Bringo the next time you need to call a customer service line. The service navigates phone trees for you and calls you back when a live human is reached. I haven’t tried it yet but they seem to have all the major categories covered – airlines, cell companies, credit cards. If you use it, let me know your thoughts in the comments.

Mark June 29 on your calendars, as that is the day all human suffering will cease and harmony will be achieved throughout the Western world. Or the iPhone hits the market. Can’t remember which.

Real time functionality would summon the Big Brother concerns. Snapshots taken while rolling down a public street???

Some of us Americans could use a brief tutorial on what privacy is. We’re going to require pregnant women to view a sonogram prior to an abortion but scream about these snapshots caught on film. Come on.
